Italian Painter, 1494-1557 Francesco Bacchiacca (1494 - 1557) was a Italian painter of the Renaissance whose work is characteristic of the Florentine Mannerist style. Bacchiacca was born in Borgo San Lorenzo, near Florence. He was also known as Bachiacca or Bacchiacca, Francesco d'Ubertino Verdi or Francesco Ubertini. He initially was a craftsman in an atelier of possibly Pietro Perugino. In 1523, he participated with Franciabigio and Jacopo Pontormo in the decoration of the camera of Giovanni Benintendi. He mainly worked in small cabinet pieces, or designs for tapestries. British Photographer, 1815-1879,English pioneer photographer, b. Calcutta (now Kolkata). Joseph Badger
(ca.1707-1765) was a portrait artist in Boston, Massachusetts in the 18th-century. He painted some 80 portraits of merchants, businessmen, clergy, and other notables, and their wives and children. Badger was born in Charlestown, Massachusetts, to tailor Stephen Badger and Mercy Kettell. In 1731 he married Katharine Felch; they moved to Boston around 1733. He was a member of the Brattle Street Church. He "began his career as a house-painter and glazier, and ... throughout his life continued this work, besides painting signs, hatchments and other heraldic devices, in order to eke out a livelihood when orders for portraits slackened."
MIJTENS, Jan
Dutch Baroque Era Painter, ca.1614-1670 Nephew of Daniel Mijtens I. He was the son of Daniel's elder brother David, a saddle-maker in The Hague. Jan may have learnt to paint from his uncle Isaac Mijtens. After 1634 he may have trained with his uncle Daniel, who had by then returned to The Hague; Jan married Daniel's daughter Anna in 1642. In 1639 he had been admitted to The Hague's guild of painters, of which he became a governor in 1656. In the latter year he helped to found the painters' society De Pictura; from 1667-8 he was a governor of this society and from 1669-70 its dean.
